November 22, 2009

Before Texas Holdem won the popularity among the gamblers 7 Card Stud Poker was the most popular type of poker. What are the options for 7 Card Stud poker? Well, they are Seven Card Stud High  and Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo

In general 7 Card Stud poker involves from two to eight people simultaneously. They say half of the bank is won by the strongest hand and the second hand – the weakest one. That kind of poker is also called “8” or “7 Card Stud”.

It’s important to take into account that a gambler is eligible to win the Lo part of the bank only in if it includes a combination of the cards that are not older than eight. The lowest 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo poker cards combination rating is similar to the Omaha Hi-Lo one. For example, let’s take 8, 7, 3, 2 and Ace (an ace is a weak card in this case). Moreover, in that case the sequence (straight) and suit (flush) are disregarded. The weakest 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo hand is Ace, 2, 3, 4 and 5 that is known as the “wheel” or “bicycle”.
The player can also assemble strong and weak hands. For this purpose he may use different hands and table cards. If there is no a weak hand in the game the bank is given to the strongest hand.
